VIRGINIA CROSSINGS RESORT NAMED EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR

Richmond, Va. September 20, – Virginia Crossings Resort has been recognized by the Virginia Association for Persons in Supported Employment (ASPE) as Employer of the Year for outstanding achievements and innovative efforts in promoting supported employment, making accommodations, and including persons with disabilities in their workforce and related activities.

Marjorie Sferra, Director of Human Resources, accepted the award on behalf of Virginia Crossings Resort, managed by Benchmark Hospitality International, at ASPE’s 10th Annual Awards Luncheon in Virginia Beach, VA on September 19, 2006. “Hometown Hospitality” is the heart of the company’s philosophy and culture in over 30 properties here in the U.S. and abroad.  Virginia Crossings Resort has taken great stride to assess, interview and select employees with disabilities to help them in their quest to reach their full potential and lead productive, fulfilled lives. 

Nomination for Employer of the Year Award was based on Virginia Crossings Resort's  continued commitment to bridging the gap between persons with disabilities and their communities and numerous support letters from local agencies. Earlier this year, Virginia Crossings Resort was recognized as an employer of choice for recruiting and retaining employees with disabilities by receiving the New Freedom Award, part of the Employer All Star Awards sponsored by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the Richmond's Human Resource Management Association.
